The Science Barge

Coming to New York City with your kids for Spring Break next week?  Consider a visit to the Science Barge - a floating, sustainable urban farm powered by solar, wind and biofuels, that practices hydroponic river water irrigation, creates no carbon emissions or waste stream, and harvests food for organizations serving those in need.

Flowers might still not be in bloom all over the Boston area, but you can still enjoy the colors and vibrancy that spring blooms bring at the Boston Flower Show.  While you're there, not miss the flower arrangements by amateur members of the Massachusetts Horticultural Society.

Walk with Women

Boston Insider Book-of-the-Month

Now that Spring is official here, you might think about revisiting the children's classic Make Way for Ducklings, by Robert McCloskey (Viking, 1941). This Caldecott Medal winner follows a loving pair of ducks in search of the perfect place to raise their family.  In the most famous scene, traffic comes to a stop as the mother leads her ducklings across the street to Boston Public Gardens, where they make their home.
